I came to College Coach with close to 10 years of experience in college financial aid offices. I began my career at Boston University, where I counseled students and their parents on the financial aid process and reviewed undergraduate financial aid applications. At Tufts University, where I served as assistant director of financial aid, I developed expertise in the field of health professions financial aid. I was responsible for financial aid application review, grant awarding and loan processing, and college financing and debt management counseling for both pre- and post-doctoral dental students. I have also served as an active member of the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrator’s Early Awareness and Outreach Committee, coordinating early college awareness activities for middle school students; as a trainer for the Department of Education’s National Training for Counselors and Mentors, educating high school guidance counselors on the financial aid process; and as a volunteer for FAFSA Day Massachusetts, aiding students and parents with the completion of online financial aid applications.

If you follow The Insider blog, you may have read about Alex Bickford and Marj Southworth’s latest trip to the Light House maternity home for young mothers in Kansas City or the work of Mary Sue Youn, Lisa Albro, and Sally Ganga with Big Brothers Big Sisters at American Express in New York City.  While College Coach has always maintained a commitment to community outreach, we have recently formalized that commitment with the formation of our Community Support Committee. The mission of the Community Support Committee is to deliver superior college counseling programs to non-profit organizations and community groups whose constituents could not otherwise afford these services.  Through the donated time of College Coach educators, the Community Support Committee is able to offer programming in the areas of college admissions and college finance.  Programming can consist of group presentations and/or individual counseling, and we can customize our services to meet your organization’s needs.  All in-kind donations of college counseling to deserving community groups further College Coach’s goal of helping individuals realize their educational aspirations. The Community Support Committee undertook its first official program in July, partnering with IBM and the White Plains Football Association to provide expertise and guidance on the college admissions process to student-athletes and their parents in White Plains, NY.  Many of these athletes will be the first members of their families to attend college, and the assistance provided by College Coach’s Sally Ganga was invaluable to these families as they navigate a confusing and sometimes intimidating college application process for the first time. The College Coach Community Support Committee, consisting of Beth Feinberg Keenan, Marj Southworth, Kyra Tyler, Kerri Haseman, and Stephanie Porter, is currently looking for new community organizations with whom to partner.  Do you know of a worthy non-profit group whose members could benefit from a program on college admissions or financial aid?  If so, please contact College Coach at communitysupport@getintocollege.com.  College Coach exists to turn college dreams into reality, and the Community Support Committee is here to help!   Contact-Us-CTA
